A poem. For and about my bride, on our 18th Wedding Anniversary

This picture was taken 18 years ago today (I’m the one on the right that looks 12). I scanned this using the picture I carry around in my wallet, so it’s a little smudged looking, but should give you the idea of what our initial day of wedded bliss was like.

For the record, this picture, and our marriage, has outlasted the church building, so that’s sayin’ something :)

I really am a lucky guy, and am so thankful to God for my wife.

So, I thought I’d write a poem that reflects some of what I’ve come to know and love about my bride. Still learning, and looking forward to learning more…

A poem. For and about my bride, on our 18th wedding anniversary.

Eyes of green and hair of gold
A smile that makes my heart unfold

My bride you see is a joy to me
And more there is to know.

Mother to three and a fountain of life
A life shaping woman I’m proud to call wife

Maker of friends and finder of fun
A dreamer of life under the Tuscan sun

Full of style with a shoe loving streak
A true fashionista that makes my knees weak

My bride you see is a joy to me
And more there is to know.

Culinary talent and a generous heart
A hostess whose tables are works of art

Attentive to details and helpfully dutiful
A light that illumines and makes things more beautiful

Athletic prowess and a competitive fire
A fighter whose spirit I’ve come to admire

My bride you see is a joy to me
And more there is to know…
